In 1964, we established E & M Specialty Company in Fremont, California. Our big interest was in marketing L.G.B. large scale model trains, as a window and in-store display medium. As that developed, our customers began asking for more associated merchandise and train oriented toys, were a natural expansion area. As we continued to source products, we found 'train oriented' products in many areas including jewelry, books, signs, etc.

With time, we expanded our assortment and have subsequently evolved into a company specializing in offering unique products for stores and retailers who cater to transportation enthusiasts, such as Railfans, hobbyists, children and adults who are children at heart. Currently, we offer a wide selection of over 1200 interesting and varied products, mostly relating to trains, but also various miniatures and die-cast cars (after all, cars are part of most train layouts).

After over 30 years of operating in Fremont, California, we moved our business to Sparks, Nevada in 1999. Sparks, the railcity that was custom-built and tailored by the Southern Pacific Railway Company, is just over the Truckee River from Reno, Nevada - "the Biggest Little City in the World".
